Pot Marigold - Calendula Seeds (Calendula officinalis). Harvested from the gardens at Monticello. Seeds of this hardy, cool-season annual were planted by Thomas Jefferson at his boyhood home, Shadwell, in 1767. Often called "Marygold" by gardeners before 1800, this self-seeding species with single yellow and orange flowers has been used for culinary and medicinal purposes since the Middle Ages.
